Tell me what you think...

I read about the internet "kill switch" on someone's blog the other day. Then I read a news story about it (which I can't find again because my computer got wiped out yesterday and all my history is gone). And then today I watched this video on YouTube...

I have very mixed feelings on this subject. What I want to know is what do you think? Is it a good thing or is it the government controlling just one more thing? Let me know. Your opinion may help me finally form my opinion.

I sure did miss you!

I'm back!!!! I don't know if you're as excited as I am (I'm pretty darn excited!!) but I'm here again...yay!

I'm here again because my brother-in-law turned the internet back on for me :) He had his reasons (and I'll tell you about them in just a second) but it's super nice for me at the same time! I missed y'all TONS!

His reason? He started a new business and decided he needed 1. a website, 2. someone who knows about the internet (me!) and 3. someone who could take care of the email stuff (me again!). So thanks to Mike I'm back!

I only think it's fair that I tell you about his business since he was nice enough to hook me up :D

Yes, I know that's a dog with poop behind him LOL That's his business. Cleaning up dog waste. I think it's actually something that's needed.

Did you know that dog waste is toxic? According to Wikipedia, "Toxocara canis eggs in dog feces can cause toxocariasis. In the United States, about 10,000 cases of Toxocara infection are reported in humans each year and almost 14% of the US population is infected. In Great Britain, 24% of soil samples taken from public parks contained Toxocara canis eggs. Untreated toxocariasis can cause retinal damage and decreased vision. Dog feces can also contain hookworms that cause cutaneous larva migrans in humans."

So, you see, it is a necessary business. If you'd like to check out his website, click here.

If you live in Georgia, specifically in the Atlanta/Athens area, and are interested in using this service, you can email Mike at mikebrakhage@yahoo.com or give him a call at 678-863-4971.

I may be absent for a bit, I may not (plus a note to Pammie & Mary lol)

Ok, as those of you that follow my Happy At Home blog already know, I may be gone for a little bit. The internet may be gone that is. If that happens, I will post at least once a week from the library. If it doesn't, you might be able to hear me screaming with joy all the way to your house :D

Either way, don't forget me!! I definitely won't forget you ♥

Now, my note to my sissy Pammie and my dear friend Mary:

I LOVE Adam & his voice & that song!!!! :) I just was a little bored with him wandering around an empty apartment. I wanted to see him "rock my world" ya know ;)

LOL

K, that's it. Hopefully I'll see y'all tomorrow but if not, you at least know why now.

Those three little words…

Some of you may know that Tim and I met through the internet. Specifically we met through a chat room. I can remember the first time he said those three little words to me… I love you… and the way it made me feel like a teenager again. Isn’t it funny how three little words can mess you up inside? My stomach hurt, my head spun, I wanted to cry, all over three little words.

Tim wasn’t the first person to say those words to me (and he wasn’t the first one in the chat room to say them either) but when he said them I felt it. I felt it through the internet connection. Some people may think that’s crazy. Some people may even think it wasn’t too smart. I, personally, am glad I took that chance.

Because I had ‘read’ those words from other people in there, I didn’t put a lot of confidence in their sincerity. With Tim it was different. I knew he was sincere. With the others I knew, basically right away, that they weren’t true. I’ve always been pretty good at seeing through bull. I’m lucky like that. Not everyone is though.

A 56 year old Australian woman learned her lesson the hard way. She was chatting with what she thought was a 57 year old man in Nigeria. She believed him when he told her he loved her. She bought every word he said including that he was in need of medical treatment. She bought that literally by paying for the treatment. He bought two plots of land and a car with the money she sent.

In reality the 57 year old white man was a Nigerian undergraduate. He received 19 years in prison for duping the caring woman out of $47,000. She will receive $10,000 immediately and then $250 a month until all the money is repaid. She will also receive the money made from the sale of the two plots of land and the car.

Every time I read a story like this I think of two things. One, all the emails I receive that start off Dearest One… And two, how lucky I am to be able to read people well. With all the dishonest people on the internet and as much time as I spend here, I could be in real trouble. I’m glad the man was caught and the lady will get her money back. It’s heartbreaking for me to think of how many con artists are out there and how many victims.
