Say it ain't so Russell!

I know Russell is a bully on Survivor. I know he's scheming and manipulating and sneaky. I know most people hate him. I'm not one of those people. Unless the story I read on E! Online is true.

Russell Hantz was allegedly arrested in Lafayette Louisiana for battery. Against a woman. 

According to a spokesman for the Lafayette Police Department, Hantz, 37, was partying at a local nightclub during the street festival when he allegedly got into an altercation with an unidentified woman, then shoved her to the ground.

Dammit Russell. Don't tell me you're one of those men. That makes me so mad. In the comment section there's this comment:

Melanie Hantz: (on facebook) Of course but I know what really happened, he didn't hit anyone police heard that by word of mouth. The person they say he supposedly hit said she don't know what the **** that came from cause he didn't do anything. There are witnesses. He didnt' even go to jail,they took him to the station and them let him go.

Of course that's what his wife says. Every wife of a low-down, wife-beating husband that I've ever met wants to defend her husband and talk about how great he is and how much he loves her and how it's not his fault.

The story from The Daily Advertiser out of Louisiana says this:

According to Cpl. Paul Mouton, spokesman for the Lafayette Police Department, officers were working downtown when they were flagged down in the 500 block of Jefferson Street about a disturbance between a man and a woman.

The 18-year-old woman and a witness told officers that the woman was in a verbal argument with Hantz, during which he allegedly pushed her to the ground. The woman suffered minor injuries, Mouton said.

Hantz was arrested a short time later and was cooperative with police, Mouton said. He has since been released from the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

I'm torn between believing the story and thinking that maybe the 18 year old made it up thinking she could get something out of it. I can't wait to see what the outcome is and what the truth is in reality. REAL reality...not reality TV.

You're busted!

I've always thought it was funny that people think policemen and women do no wrong. Not haha funny. Peculiar funny. I mean, they are people. They do make mistakes. Nobody is perfect. 

A Colorado State Trooper makes my point on this subject. He makes it perfectly.

Can you tell what the picture is of? It's the previously mentioned Trooper being arrested for drunk driving. In his squad car. In his uniform. While armed and on duty. I think that's a bit scary. Quite a bit.

You can't make me stay with them!

What did you do for New Year's Eve? Did you go to a party? Spend time with family? Get in a big argument with your wife and refuse to spend the night with her? Ask to be arrested so that you could get away from your family? That sounds crazy doesn't it. Well it's not that crazy. A man in Rome did just that.

He didn't want to spend the evening with his family so he went to the local police station and asked them to arrest him so that he could spend the night in jail instead. They refused to grant the man's wish because he hadn't committed a crime. So instead of just giving in and going home, the man went next door to a tobacco store, grabbed some candy and gum and then threatened the store owner with a box cutter. Then he just sat back and waited for the police to arrive and arrest him. It makes me wonder just what was happening at home...

Maybe it's the food they eat...

I was surprised this morning when I came across a story about a second Florida student being disciplined for having gas. I'd even say I was a little shocked. Ok, it's completely unbelievable to me! It's a bodily function people! Get a grip!!

Just in case you missed it, I'll remind you of the first student.

Back on November 4, 2008, a 13 year old Spectrum Junior-Senior High School student was ARRESTED for passing gas in school. Arrested. Isn't that crazy?

Authorities said he was passing gas and that he also turned off his classmates' computers. A report from the Martin County Sheriff's Office said the boy "continually disrupted his classroom environment" by intentionally breaking wind. He was charged with disruption of school function and released to his mother. I guess I can see a boy thinking that was funny but to arrest him? No way.

Then this morning I saw the newest flatulence offender...

A 15 year old eighth grader from Lakeland Florida.

The bus driver said the boy was passing gas on the bus Monday to make the other children laugh. He also said that the boy created "a stench so bad that it was difficult to breathe." That's some bad gas now. And I can judge gas since I live with several gas passers (My husband and my cats are all offenders...). It's got to be some mighty powerful stuff to make it difficult to breathe.

The boy was suspended from riding the school bus for three days even though he said he wasn't the one passing gas. The bus driver didn't even give the boy the suspension notice until the next day. I don't get that part. Why not address the matter immediately? Why wait until the next day?

I have a couple major problems with this second incident all jokes aside. First, why not open the windows? Do school bus windows not open anymore? I can remember it being over 100 degrees outside and we'd have every window on the bus open. And the driver has a small window by them too. Why couldn't he open that and give himself some fresh air? I just think that's a pretty petty thing to complain about. Have you ever been in the store and walked down an aisle that someone just passed gas on? Maybe we should confront them and tell them they can't come in the store for three days because they passed gas.

The second thing is the fact that because he had gas (IF he is the guilty one), he now has to find alternate means to get to school. I personally rode the school bus every day of my high school career. I rode it on the first day of school and I rode it on the LAST day of school. My parents worked. We weren't allowed to drive. We definitely weren't allowed to ride in anyone else's car (even though we snuck a few times). The bus was our only choice. If I had been kicked off the bus for any amount of time I would have caused a huge issue. (Not to mention I would have gotten my butt whipped pretty darn good.)

So needless to say, I think it's ridiculous that these students got in trouble for gas. There are so many bad things happening in the world and we're going to arrest a teenager for farting. That makes sense.

This mornings headlines

Reading the news this morning, I came across several things that caught my attention so today I thought I would basically summarize each one rather than write about one particular subject. And off we go...

Unreturned library book leads to woman’s arrest

This story is out of Iowa. She was arrested and had to post a $250 bond for a $13.95 book. What I don’t understand is why spend that money to use the police to arrest someone over less than $20. I just think that’s ridiculous. Give them back the book and pay them the $13.95 and move on. Next…

93-year-old froze to death, owed big utility bill

This story out of Michigan just broke my heart and it made me so angry at the same time. The man was 93. He should never have been living alone. I don’t believe the power company should be able to control how much power you receive either. I had no idea they did that. Oakland County’s deputy chief medical examiner said the 93 year old man died “a slow, painful death” after the power company restricted his electricity use because he was past due on his bill. Neighbors said there was ice on the inside of his windows when they discovered him dead in his home. The temperature inside the house was 32 degrees. That’s… I have no idea how to end that sentence. It’s just heartbreaking.

Paramedic Charged in John Travolta Extortion Plot

I was so upset when Jett Travolta died. And I was upset by some people’s reactions to his death and some of the things that were said. I just don’t understand people sometimes. A child died. That should be the end of it except for the mourning. But no, unscrupulous people are always looking for a way to make that money. The details are still pretty sketchy, but one of the paramedics from the ambulance Jett rode to the hospital in has been formally charged with attempting to extort and conspiracy to extort $25 million dollars from the Travolta family. All I can say to that is what goes around comes around and I'm glad the police are doing something about it.

And last but not least…

Woman gives birth to octuplets in SoCal hospital

Six boys and two girls weighing in from 1 pound, 8 ounces to 3 pounds, 4 ounces. Doctors only thought the mother was having seven babies and baby #8 surprised them. Three of the infants needed medical care but as of the story I read, they were all stable. This is only the second time in known history that octuplets have survived more than a few hours. I hope she’s resting at the hospital now; she’ll definitely need the energy once they all get home!
