Told ya'

Yes, I did.

I told you that changes were coming and now they're here! What do you think? I like it! The only thing I don't like is that I've lost all your wonderful comments since I changed back to the Blogger comment form from the Intense Debate comment form. But...C'est la vie...Such is life. It will be ok.

I also told you that I planned on catching up on my shows and then telling you what I think. Thank goodness for DVR's otherwise I would have missed out on some good stuff!

I was really sad to see Jimmy Johnson voted off the show. I think they really messed up with that one. He's a great leader and could have taken them far. Now that the tribes have been mixed up and they are no longer the older tribe vs. the younger tribe, it's kind of a moot point but I still think he could have been a huge asset.

I was happy to see Jimmy T. leave though. Not that I think he's a horrible person but I just couldn't stand any more of his whining to be the leader. It was really annoying. If you want to be a leader then lead. Nike™ said it best, Just Do It.

My favorite player (for now) is Marty. I think he's really playing. He's causing things to happen and change without being noticed as the person that's causing it.

My least favorite player is NaOnka. I just can. not. stand. her. She's rude. She's hateful. She's no help at all. I wish she would get voted out. Now.

Hell's Kitchen

I'm really disappointed in this season's contestants. I'm not even sure if I could pick someone that I think could run a kitchen. I was happy to see all of the contestants leave that have left up until now except for Boris. I liked him. I don't think he could have run the Araxi Restaurant but he tried to do his best.

If I was forced to pick a favorite, it would be Jillian. I can easily pick a least favorite: Sabrina. She can't cook the simplest dishes without having to ask how to do it but continuously praises herself on being a great chef. I just don't see it.

The last episode gave us former winners Rock, Christina, Danny & Holly at the chef's tables which was fun. I liked seeing them again. (I can't believe Danny cut all of his hair off!!) It also left us with a cliffhanger which sucked. We won't get to see what happened until November  10th. Grr.

Well guys, I hope you have a wonderful Saturday! I'll be seeing you soon.

Crazy? Adventure? Life? Yep, sounds about right.

Life really has been a crazy adventure lately. Mostly I've enjoyed it. A lot. All the doctor visits? Not so much. If you're interested in my personal life, you can click here to catch up with that stuff.

For now let me just tell you that my DVR is full. When I get caught up on Survivor and Hell's Kitchen, I'm sure I'll be talking about it here.

And if you follow my other blogs, then you know that I've been changing things up on them. Change will be happening here too...and probably soon. We'll just have to wait and see how crazy life gets between now and then. Just know that change is coming. And I think you'll like it.

I hope all of you are doing well. Hopefully I'll be able to visit your blogs soon. Have a great weekend everyone!

Dear Blogger,

Are you sleepy? Do you need to take a little vacation? What's wrong??

I don't know how many of you keep up with the Blogs of Note from your dashboard but I am one of the people that does. Or at least tries to keep up with them. Lately Blogger hasn't wanted me to do that I guess.

The last Blog of Note listed on my dashboard is from January 15th. Isn't it January 22nd now or is my calendar lying to me?

Frustrated, I clicked on the link that says "The latest Blogs of Note" and it took me to a page that has..... the newest Blogs of Note. Will I have to go to this page to see them from now on? Are you really making it that much harder for me to see them?

Ok, I know it's not that hard to go to a new page but I liked it the other way. It made me feel a little special (and spoiled) to have them right there whenever I wanted to see who was new. Why the change Blogger? I don't like it!!

I. WANT. MY. OLD. DASHBOARD. BACK. NOW!!!!!

(can't you just see me throwing a little kid hissy fit right now? I am...trust me...)

LOL

Ok, I'm done griping for the time being.

How about you....Do you keep up with the Blogs of Note? Did your dashboard change how it displays them too or is it just mine picking on me?

Be back in 5 minutes

You probably know I have more blogs than just this blog (if you don't you do now...they are here and here) and you may know that I've recently given both those blogs a makeover. I've been searching and searching for a layout for THIS blog too but so far I've been unsuccessful. That may change today. We'll see.

So if you're here and things are changing at every refresh, no need to panic :) It's just me being me and playing around with things. By this time tomorrow This Crazy Adventure I Call Life should be brand spanking new (at least in it's appearance)!

Have a great Wednesday everyone! See you tomorrow :D

Change

I have two things I want to talk with you about today and they both have to do with change.

The first one is the changing of our clocks this coming Saturday, March 7. Don't forget or you'll be late for everything! We "spring forward" this Saturday which means at 2:00 a.m. you need to change your clock to 3:00 a.m. (or if you're lucky all your electronic "stuff" will change on it's own). I've always wondered why we did that at 2:00 a.m. It seems odd to me. (You know I looked it up!)

From the USNO website:
  • In 2009, daylight time begins on March 8 and ends on November 1.

Many other countries observe some form of "summer time", but they do not necessarily change their clocks on the same dates as the U.S.

Daylight time and time zones in the U.S. are defined in the U.S. Code, Title 15, Chapter 6, Subchapter IX - Standard Time.

History of Daylight Time in the U.S.

Although standard time in time zones was instituted in the U.S. and Canada by the railroads in 1883, it was not established in U.S. law until the Act of March 19, 1918, sometimes called the Standard Time Act. The act also established daylight saving time, a contentious idea then. Daylight saving time was repealed in 1919, but standard time in time zones remained in law. Daylight time became a local matter. It was re-established nationally early in World War II, and was continuously observed from 9 February 1942 to 30 September 1945. After the war its use varied among states and localities. The Uniform Time Act of 1966 provided standardization in the dates of beginning and end of daylight time in the U.S. but allowed for local exemptions from its observance. The act provided that daylight time begin on the last Sunday in April and end on the last Sunday in October, with the changeover to occur at 2 a.m. local time.

During the "energy crisis" years, Congress enacted earlier starting dates for daylight time. In 1974, daylight time began on 6 January and in 1975 it began on 23 February. After those two years the starting date reverted back to the last Sunday in April. In 1986, a law was passed that shifted the starting date of daylight time to the first Sunday in April, beginning in 1987. The ending date of daylight time was not subject to such changes, and remained the last Sunday in October. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 changed both the starting and ending dates. Beginning in 2007, daylight time starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.

*************************************************************************************

The second change I wanted to talk to you about has to do with changing appearances. It seems drug lords have a new trick. I was listening to the radio this morning and heard a report about cloned trucks. Here in Houston police found a H.E.B. truck abandoned at a truck stop. The problem was that it wasn't a H.E.B. truck. It was a clone. Drug dealers created the H.E.B. fake semi to haul marijuana. There was 4500 pounds in the back of the truck.

Since they said the truck was found abandoned, I assume they don't know who's responsible. That's a crazy amount of marijuana and I never would have thought that they were creating semi's to mask their activities. That actually took a lot of thought if you ask me. I'm not defending the drug dealers in any way but I have to admit it was pretty smart. Who would look twice at a grocery store truck? I know I won't ever look at them the same again. I'll be wondering what's inside.

The more I see, the more I love Barack Obama

So yesterday I spent a lot of time online. I know. What else is new? I have so many different sites online that I forget about them. Like Twitter. I’ll go weeks in between posting something on Twitter. Sometimes I just post nonsense; sometimes I post things that are important to me.

I actually remembered my Twitter because Barack Obama started following me. I’ll wait a minute while you either start breathing or quit laughing…

Now I don’t know if it’s really our President sending out ‘What are you doing?’ messages but it is someone affiliated with the government. I can tell because of three things. 1. They have 241,290 followers. 2. The updates are all government related. And 3. They follow everyone that follows them including tons of other government agencies.

I found Obama through the FDA twitter page. I follow them for what should be obvious reasons (if it’s not just read yesterday’s post).

So I posted my Twitter message for this morning: Getting ready to write…as usual :) and then I went to read my morning news as usual. I know, I know; that isn’t what I said I was doing in my message but I would be writing soon and probably about one of the news stories I came across so really I was getting ready to write.

That’s when I saw the story on Obama. It said he was fired up. It said he ditched the teleprompter and basically went off on people. My first thought was Yes! Finally! A man that will fight for us!

I saw there were some videos next to the article but I finished reading first. The story gave me hope. Hope for our country. Hope for our future. Obama was quoted as saying “We’ve inherited a mess. It’s our job to clean it up.” I believe he can do it too. Every day that passes; every speech I hear; every story I read shows me that he can do it.

Then I watched the video. It gave me goose bumps. It really did. Obama is just so inspiring. And he’s real. He doesn’t try to act like a politician. He doesn’t try to be anything that he’s not. I’m just so impressed with that.

I’m not real sure if I have a point today. I think I just wanted to brag on our new President a little. I’m proud of him. I want to grab everyone I see and say “Don’t you just love Barack Obama?!” I know not everyone I grabbed would agree with me but I bet many of them would.
